This is one of the most common questions we hear: “How many sessions will it take?”.
Laser tattoo removal isn’t a one-size-fits-all process. It isn’t a one and done process because the technology is not there yet. The number of sessions depends on several factors such as tattoo size, ink color, how old the tattoo is, where it’s located, and even your body’s immune response.
Most tattoos require multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart. That spacing is important because your body needs time to break down and clear the ink between treatments. We recommend waiting at least 8 weeks between each session.
The good news? Many of our clients start seeing fading after just 2–3 sessions, which helps confirm that the process is working.
Darker inks often respond faster, while lighter colors may take more time. Older tattoos also tend to fade more easily than newer ones.
What matters most is having a personalized treatment plan created by an experienced provider using advanced laser technology. That’s how you get safe, consistent results without unnecessary treatments.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the unknown, you’re not alone. A consultation is the best way to get clear answers and realistic expectations. At our Temecula med spa, we use the Candela PicoWay pico laser for tattoo removal.
